about us

singh&sons began in 2006 when a few friends became business partners, thereby breaking a rule of business on their very first day. over the next 17 years they have broken more rules, worked with blue chip clients, put brands first, and remained friends.

friends are the family you choose. and these are some members of our family.

Adeshia Singh

CEO

Adeshia’s rise has been meteoric, all the way from PE to Cape Town. She also made the slightly smaller leap from law to advertising when she decided to do a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing & Advertising at the AAA School of Advertising after completing her Bachelor of Arts (Law) degree. Adeshia’s first foray into advertising was at TBWA Hunt Lascaris (Cape Town), followed by a fantastic nine years at The Jupiter Drawing Room where she started out as an account executive and ended up as the strategic director and board member. Adeshia left The Jupiter Drawing Room towards the end of 2005 in search of something more. That something more now bears her name. Adeshia has guided the agency to finalist of Small Agency of the Year and to even bigger things with significant blue chip account gains in the financial, motoring and alcohol sectors. She is also on the board of the Association for Communications and Advertising (ACA).

P-J Kensley

Creative Director

P-J’s life in advertising started in 1992 at the AAA School of Advertising. His career in advertising started three years later at Ogilvy & Mather when, for a nominal salary, they paid for his skill on some of the biggest brands in South Africa. In 1998 The Jupiter Drawing Room employed P-J to apply his skills to everything from financial institutions to fashion houses. According to the man himself, however, the best part of being Creative Director was in revitalising brands, transforming them ‘from easily recognised to easily loved’. This he achieved with brands such as Hyundai & Sanlam. As a kid P-J collected comic books. As an adult he collects comic books & awards; several Loeries, finalists at Cannes, One Show & awards from the New York Festivals. His work is influenced by his love of cars, jazz, magazines, cars, Bruce Lee, cars, 80s TV shows &, of course, cars. His young son, Jude, means there are now also toy cars in his life.

Roger Paulse

Creative Director

Roger’s career got off to a dramatic start when he came first in Sub A. He managed to prevent the inevitable downward spiral, by matriculating, getting a degree at UCT & a Postgraduate Diploma in copywriting. His first advertising salary slip was from Tholet Sievers for R1 100. He was hooked. Two years later a move to bull calvert pace, three months after its inception, signalled a rise in his fortunes. But not before he went on to become the agency’s most awarded copywriter. He’s won Creative Circle Ads of the Month, craft, silver & gold Loeries, bronze, silver, gold & black Eagles (the first person to do so), gold at New York Festivals, silver London Internationals & bronze & gold at Cannes. He was a founding son at singh&sons where he longingly remembered his first paycheck. As Creative Director he’s won Creative Circle Ads of the Month, bronze Eagles, & craft, bronze & gold Loeries. He’s happy hiking up mountains, compulsively arranging his bookshelf or playing trivial pursuit for money.

Kate Bailey

Managing Director

Despite her southern suburbs origins, Kate got her BComm Financial Accounting degree at Stellenbosch. She followed this with a BA Honours in Brand Leadership at Vega Brand Communications School. Life experience came next in the form of a working season on the ski slopes of Aspen. Returning to sunny South Africa she started her marketing life as Marketing Assistant at Woolworths in Beauty & Women’s wear. She moved to singh&sons in 2008. She has worked on a variety of clients (including satrix, @home, Donna Claire, Pharma Dynamics, nutribullet, Cipla, Caltex & Havoline), but made her reputation managing Kia Motors and a range of Distell brands (Pongrácz, Drostdy Hof, 4th Street). She loves spending time with her kids, & the other 3 minutes of the week on dancing, fashion, yoga & boxing, but so far clients haven’t been exposed to the latter.
